7 Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. 8 My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. 9 What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck. | We need to listen to God's correction. It is foolish not to heed His Word and do what it says. Our kids said: We need to heed our parents advice as we are told things for a reason. | We apply this verse to our lives by doing what God tells us to do. Kids: This is obeying our mom and dad by listening to the rules. We are given rules and guidelines for a reason. | Dear Jesus, Help us to to your voice more and heed what you have to say in our lives. Help our children to listen to us as parents and to do as they are instructed. So that we all may have wisdom. That we will be crowned with grace and honor and be a blessing. Amen |

Psalms 1:2-3 But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. | Delighting in God's word is meditating on it day and night. I need to memorize his Word and hold it dear to my heart. When I apply God's word to my life - it will bear fruit as a tree does. Thus transforming and changing my life. | How can I meditate on God's Word? By reading it daily - doing my Route66. By memorizing key verses and applying them to my life. | Lord please help me as we start this journey to apply your word to my life so that my life will bear fruit. That it would be a blessing to those around me. Help my life to be a reflection of your love and for your word to bring forth fruit in my life. Help my family as we do this Route66 journey to be committed and to grow in faith and love and help us to grow closer to you. Amen |

Romans 3:22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. | There's one way to be made right with God and that's faith in Jesus. You must believe him to be the Son of God.Thank God that this is something for everyone who believes. We have to understand our humaness makes us sinners. We all are. We can not measure up to God's glory. Undeserved kindness - mercy - giving us what we don't deserve. Freed from penalty of sin/declared righteous - grace - giving us more than we deserve. | I believe Jesus to be the Son of God and God raised him from the dead. He died for my sins. He is Lord of this world. I must behave as God gave me mercy and His grace sustains me. We are all sinners and we must show the same mercy and grace to others. | God, I am a sinner, but you declare me righteous in your sight by the blood of Jesus. Thank you so much for showing me mercy and grace. May I not judge others as we all fall short of your glory. |

After a long time, in the third year, the word of the Lord came to Elijah: "Go and present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the land." 1 Kings 18:1 | Elijah did incredible things... but none of the miracles that he was a part of did he do apart from God. Without the word of God telling him where, when and what... Elijah would have done nothing of note. | I need to listen for the word of the Lord. I need to hear God's voice, and do what he says. I start with the Bible, obey in those things, spend time listening, and then eventually act as the spirit moves... moving as one with God. | Please grant me ears to hear, and even more so... a willing spirit to obey. Grant me self control that I would not be overcome with sin, and overwhelm me with your love so I can know just how to love others. Amen. |

1 Samuel 1:27-28 "I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord." | God heard Hannah's request for a son, and his high priest delivered the answer. She prayed for years before she ever saw the fruit of her prayers, even praying out of the anguish of her soul. The result of the prayer is the birth of Samuel, and the beginning of one of the most amazing stories of the old testament. Hannah was faithful in her prayers, and then doubly so with how she reacted to God saying yes... she gave her blessings back to the Lord. | I know when I pray I should pray with expectation and persistence, especially about those things which anguish my soul. But to react in the way that Hannah did... to give it all back after God has answered is a level of gratitude I'm not sure I've ever lived out. I think more often I desire to keep my blessings and hoard them. | God, teach me to pray persistently, and prepare my heart to give back to you. Help me to see the blessings you have given, and turn them directly back to your service and your glory. Give me a giving heart, Amen. |

Out of our blessings we are to bless others. | Lord, you have blessed me and my family and I know by helping others I serve you. Use me for your purposes where I can help others. |
